|Contreras, Henry (youngest of six children) born to Nellie and Filberto Contreras on February 8, 1930, Angels took him to heaven on January 21, 2013 in his home with his family by his side. Henry was born in Los Angeles, California, he attended Stevenson Junior High School, Roosevelt and Garfield High School he went on to Woodbury College. Henry went on to work at the Long Beach Naval Shipping yard he ended his career after 40 years of General Service Administration.
In 1948 he proposed to Lupe Marie, he enlisted to the Korea War in 1950, He was captured by the Chinese and was a POW from February 12, 1951 to August 13, 1953. Upon returning from the War as a Sargent he married the love of his life Lupe Marie. They started there family first born daughter Sandy, then came son Henry. They continued to build their family foundation. They were married 47 years until Lupe Marie went to heaven. Henry continued his love for life surrounded by family and friends, he enjoyed music being with his children ,grand children sharing life learned lessons and stories of his childhood. His smile, laughter and stories will be greatly missed.
Henry is survived by his daughter; Sandy Lopez, his son; Henry Contreras, his sister; Anita Sonnenfeld, his sister in-law; Jessica Sanchez, son-in-law Joe Sanchez, daughter-in-law; Reyna, Grandchildren; Jackie, Joseph, Derek and Tamara.
