Why Choose Us?

 Our Commitment

As a family owned firm, we take pride in being family focused. No appointment is ever needed and when you walk in our doors, we listen to your requests, work around your schedule, and within reason, customize a service to your wishes.

Our arrangers are courteous, do not pressure you into high priced items, are not on commission, meet no quotas, and do not have to answer to stock holders. With this in mind, our atmosphere is informal, pleasant and friendly.

One of the most important aspects of a traditional burial arrangement is the casket selection. Most mortuaries simply offer you what is on physical display. We go far beyond that. We are able to customize any theme you desire. If your loved one was dedicated to a specific saint, or if a family collage is your thought, we can transpose any of those items to the casket hardware, as well as a cap panel to the casket lid. We can also continue this format into your memorial folder selection.

We want you to feel a part of your home in ours. With that in mind, during viewing hours, we encourage you to surround your loved one with items that he or she enjoyed during life.

This is just a small example which makes us different from the average mortuary. Please feel free to contact any of our staff in person, or thru e-mail. One of us is always available to help.

 Our History

The Gutierrez family began their venture into funeral service in the Chinatown area of Los Angeles in 1945...The Guerra family in the Southeast Los Angeles area of Florence in 1966.

In 1969, Carlos Guerra & Richard Gutierrez joined together to form Guerra & Gutierrez Mortuary in East Los Angeles. Our families were born and raised in this community - We had a vision and pledged to provide the finest care and options at reasonable prices. With a commitment of remaining "family owned and family focused", we became the largest family owned mortuary in the East Los Angeles area with 3 locations to serve you.

In 1984, we ventured a bit further east into the city of Whittier and purchased the former Lanier & Richardson Funeral Home in Uptown Whittier. We now direct that location as Guerra & Gutierrez Mortuary in Uptown Whittier.

As the new millennium approached, we saw a need to improve our current status and give the community a first class facility it deserved. In September of 2001 we were proud to open our doors to a newly constructed Guerra & Gutierrez Mortuary on Beverly Blvd.
